Day #6 ~ Getting Organized Challenge (Dresser Drawers)

January 7, 2011
Yesterday was amazing. I LOVED seeing all of your “under the kitchen sink” posts!  (I will admit, it was hard seeing all of those chemicals though).   Whenever you are ready to trade your chemicals in for Non-Toxic Get Clean Products, email me & I will help you pretty your cabinets up with Shaklee and also I will let you know all of the special deals you can get through ordering from me!  *(I found out yesterday that I am not allowed to post my Shaklee “specials” on my blog, so… Just email me and I will let you know what they are).

If you are new to the challenge, click on the button below to see what it’s all about and join in! If you missed some days, thats okay.  Start on today!

Day #6 – Dresser Drawers

Some of you may already have this tackled, but some may not.  So if you do, we would love to see your system for keeping clothing organized, clean, folded, and in place!  I am getting better… but still have days when I just want to throw whatever is in the clean pile, in any drawer.

This challenge will be a refreshing one… The primary purpose is to purge what you no longer need, making space for the “new, trendy you”. Once the challenge is done, go to Target and pick yourself out a cute new outfit! You deserve it after all you have been through.

You get to go through all of you clothes, weeding out the ones that you no longer wear, ones that don’t flatter you, if you bought them when you were in high school,  aka… “out of style pieces” or any that just doesn’t fit anymore.  Those will go in your donation box.  ONLY KEEP WHAT FITS YOU NOW!   I hope we can inspire each other to get our clothing neatly in order!

My challenge for you

1. Take a “before” picture of the contents of your dresser, exactly as it is now.  (We don’t have to see the booty drawer, if you dont feel comfy about it!) If you dont have a dresser, find a set of “drawers” somewhere in the house.

2.  Now, empty it all onto your bed.

3. Get your 3 boxes (keep, toss, donate) and start separating. Try them on if you have to.

4. Okay, now neatly fold all of the clothes and put them back in an organized fashion

5. While you are at it,  you can clear the clutter on the top of your dresser too… in the same fashion as the clothing sort.  Remove everything, give it a good cleaning, and toss what you don’t need on there.

5. Easy, peasy… Your done!  It was a simple challenge, but gives a great feeling of satisfaction that it was done!  Take your “after” picture and come back & share with us!

Happy Organizing!

My Challenge Pictures

Before I started

Messy and mixed up!

Who knows what I have in there?

I have a large jewelry box so this is the “junk” drawer in my bedroom.

This is after I cleaned the dresser with Basic H.

I took all the clothes out of the drawers and put them on my bed and purged. Then I folded and lined them up on the dresser in categories.

My jeans are now folded neatly.

I LOVE my pjs from Target.

Nothing special about this drawer. I just try to keep them lined up in order of sock style.

Thats it!  I try to keep my dresser top empty of clutter since thats the first thing you see when you walk into my bedroom.

I love your dresser. Our room is the last in our house to be done we need furniture but we always find better things to spend our money on. We have this small chest of drawers, which is why i use our hall closet for jeans and such. Your dresser looks great

  6. Great challenge! It got me thinking… I doubt I’ll be rewarding myself with a new outfit. I have no more room. ; ) This year for me may be about replacing things. You know the good old 1 in 1 out rule. I think we have the same necklace. Is that Chaps from Kohl’s?

  7. Toni says:

Paige, it possibly could be, but mine was a 99 cent gift from goodwill (from my 12 yr old for my birthday). She knows me so well. Im too cheap to pay $ and we LOVE thrift stores! πŸ˜‰

Well, this is a “gottcha” project;-) Guess where all the stuff that came out of the linen closet went? Um, hmm, on top of my dresser. And guess where all the stuff that came out of the livingroom cabinets went–the ones that needed a new home in a dresser? Yep, they’re on the dresser too. So anyway, my room is gonna look great when this project is finished AND it needed to be done today too because we have company coming tonight–two birds with one stone–yea!!!!! Thanks for this week’s challenges, Toni, my house is looking much better and I’m not in panic mode about the company tonight;-)

Clothes that don’t fit me anymore. Hmmm…this is going to be one CLEAN dresser! πŸ™‚ I have a bit of a PJ bottom obsession myself.

  12. ~alicia says:

I did this weeks ago, because I had stuff spewing out of my drawers! I will take pix and link up tonight.

And, you’re right about the chemicals…I chucked all mine in the trash last night when I did my “under the sink” challenge. Having all those nice Shaklee bottles with cleaness is just awesome!
