My launch pad & some yummy inspiration…

February 8, 2011
I finally finished (most) of my launch pad.  I have some decor to add to the shelf and I want to make a long bench pillow, but for the most part, its complete.   How is your launch pad going?? Here is the shelf that I had stored in my closet for years.  I used to decorate “primitive style” and when I changed decor, the shelf was stored away.  So I brought it back to life by revamping it. I painted it an antique white and sanded it down.

I found these number hooks at Hobby Lobby this week. They were half off at only $2.50 each.

My new basket goes well here. It holds my library books, etc.

The bench came from Company Kids.  I stole it from my 4 year olds room. 🙂

We keep our winter shoes in the garage (hidden from view). The baskets under the bench will be “flip flop” baskets once it warms up.

I love how well it turned out.  I have a lot more to decorate, but you get the jist. I will share what I come up with on the shelf, once its finished.

Here are some of “my” favorite launch pad inspirations. Im sure you will find them inspiring too!

Googie Momma uses fabric wall files with hooks under them. She also has a tutorial on her blog on how to make these files.

My Sweet Savannah does a lovely job making her launch pad look “pretty”. I LOVE her use of vintage alarm clocks.

My all time FAVORITE launch pad comes from 320 Sycamore.  She does a fabulous job with her’s.  Its simply amazing. This is where I got a lot of inspiration from.

Finally, I love this unique mounted coat rack from Gritchelle Fallensgon. So vintage looking.

I loooove it! Funny story, I actually bought the same hooks from Hobby Lobby but mine spell COATS. I was looking for a way to dress them up a little–now I might have to steal your idea of mounting them to a shelf!

  5. How adorable! I just love how this turned out! Great Job!

I love your coat hooks with numbers, that’s so fun. Your launch pad looks great. Great basket for your library books, we have one too. Checked out all your fave links and it was so neat to see the last one with door knobs, since that’s what I did too mine last week. Everyone is doing a great job.

I have to say though my promblem is that my area is really small, just a small corner when you first walk in, everyone seems to have bigger entryways and mudrooms. Will post my picture tomorrow and hope someone can give me ideas. This has been fun seeing everyone’s ideas.

It looks great! I am still trying to figure out just where to put our launch pad. We live in a small split-level entry so we don’t have a ton of room by our front door… or anywhere else, for that matter! 🙂

PS – I see you’re reading The Help? I loved it! Hope you do too. 🙂

Lu, find somewhere near your front or back door… And hang a little coat hook with a basket under it. You don’t need a lot of space to make it cute either. Can’t wait to see what you come up with for a small space.

    love it Toni! Nice job.

  12. I have been totally obsessed with our “launch pad” since we moved in and people keep trying me to do something else like put a big piece of furniture there and I want something EXACTLY like what you did! Finally I have something to show the Hubs! 🙂

Love all these rooms. Great ideas. I’m going to use one of your ideas immediately: that of using a basket for library books. Right now I have a shelf for them on my new Expedit bookcase but a basket would be better methinks. 🙂

Stopping by for the first time from Jen’s over at IHeart Organizing. LOVE your launch pad! I am trying to think mine out right now…I’ve got three little ones, two of whom have autism, and they really need an organized and easy place to put everything when they come in the door. Thanks for all the inspiration. 🙂
