How to decorate your porch for fall…

October 1, 2012
Its that time of year again. October 1st has arrived. Its time for falling leaves, crisp air, hay rides, bon fires and apple cider.   I spent this past Sunday, decorating my porch for the season and I want to give you some tips to do the same!

How to achieve this look?

Think of a “color” that you want to highlight in your decor. I chose oranges and reds.  You could also choose plum, yellow, white, etc…  Add lots of pumpkins in different sizes and colors, going up the steps.  Plant mums in pots and place on the sides of the door.  Also place mums down the steps. You can find mums just about anywhere right now… including walmart. The more mums you have, the more colorful your porch will look. String garland around the doorway.  I found my garland for $8.99/7ft section at Hobby Lobby. Many other stores carry garland as well.  I needed 3 sections for my doorway.  You can reuse the garland, year after year. Your fall decor can stay up through Thanksgiving.

The TOTAL cost of my fall decor was $90 + the cost of the rug & pots.

Leaf garland makes a huge statement!!

Fall mums brighten up the porch!

Make sure to lay a nice rug out.  Its one of the first things your guests will see when entering your home.  You dont want it to be dingy!  My rug was around $25 from Target.

Planting mums in large planters give the porch a “fancy” feel.  I purchased these planters at Big Lots for $20 each earlier this summer.

You can add a personalized touch your house by using monogram decor.

Purchase your monogrammed flag (here).  Type in “pineapple monogram garden flag” in the search box to see the different letters.

This week, we will be decorating the outside of our home for “HALLOWEEN”… Stay tuned. I will share a picture when its finished. πŸ˜‰

HAPPY FALL YA’LL!

I love your decorations and your photographs! I have the same garland but it is over the top of my entertainment center. I think it looks better around the door though. How did you get it to stay?

I also wondered how you got the garland to stay up? I have a stucco home and cannot put nails in it, any ideas ??

My home is white with black shutters, too!
The reds and oranges are happy additions to your entrance!
I need to go to Swoozie’s and see if they have an “H” flag for me, too.

I love your leaf garland! I have two of the largest mums I’ve ever seen on my front porch right now (found them at Lowes) and I’m heading out to the pumpkin patch tomorrow so hopefully I can finally get my porch all fall-ed up!
