Cleaning out the Kitchen Sink!

December 10, 2010

I’m glad you stoped by. Today, Im back in the kitchen for some more cleaning. Its a battle for me to keep my white sink clean… on a daily basis.  I tell myself, “one day they will learn to rinse their dishes (place them in the dishwasher) AND rinse out the sink”…

This is my weekly “sink cleaning” routine.
Here is the before shot… as you can see there are toast crumbs from breakfast (and what you may not see is the toothpaste drops from my 8 year old who doesnt know how to brush his teeth in the br).  😉
1. First, I rinse out the dirty sink.
2. Then I apply Scour Off (using a lot of elbow grease).  This gets the sink really white again.
3. Scrub, scrub, scrub.
4. Then I rinse WELL!
5. After I rinse out the sink… I wash out the remaining “Scour off” with Basic H2 (love this stuff).
6.  I rinse again and dry with a towel. (Then I hang a pretty clean Marth Stewart dish towel on the sink- Like Fly Lady).

Now my sink is white…
… and so clean…
…until tomorrow! 😉
Im linking up to these great parties today:

I had a similar experience in my old house, although it hid things a little better since it was an almond color. 😉 But, even with having to clean it more often, I still loved how it looked much more than the stainless steel one I have now.

Is your sink white porcelain? I struggle with coffee stains and grey scratches from pots in my sink…

  8. Toni says:

Kristal… The scour off that I sell from shaklee takes away the grey scratches well!

  9. Keriann says:

I have never heard of scour off! I’m so glad I read this! My beautiful white sinks are never quite white enough!

  10. The sink is looking good! Once in a while, a sink should be cleaned to make sure that nothing is clogging the pipes. However, it’s also good to have a sink that looks clean from the outside as well, especially when it’s the kitchen sink, right? That’s definitely a place where good hygiene is a must!

  11. How nice it is to have a clean and spotless kitchen countertop and sink! While most of us try to keep this area of the kitchen neat and germ-free, there are those who are very busy that hire the assistance of a Twin Cities janitorial service provider to help them with the cleaning. The kitchen is among the busiest areas of a household and maintaining its cleanliness could be a challenge but thanks to you, we get to learn more about the right way of cleaning – thank you.

  12. Really you write great posts and have great blog
